Highlights

  • Several of Munduk's waterfalls linked on foot
  • Melanting, Munduk (Red Coral) and Golden Valley falls
  • Clove, coffee and cacao gardens between the falls
  • Swim stops when the water is calm

Munduk sits on a ridge above deep, green river valleys, and the streams running off the highlands drop over a chain of waterfalls just below the village. This trek links them on foot, following the paths villagers use to reach their gardens.

Between the falls you’ll walk through clove, coffee and cacao plantations. Ketut shows you how each crop is grown and dried, and points out the fruit trees and spices along the way. Going early means cooler walking and quieter pools; afternoon rain is common in the highlands.

Who is this hike for?

Anyone with reasonable fitness. The walking itself is not long, but there are many steep steps down to each waterfall and back up again, and the paths are slippery when wet. Take it slowly and wear shoes with good grip.
